What is counselling and psychotherapy? Counselling is the practice of supportive listening. In a counselling and psychotherapy session, a trained counsellor has the skills to be fully present with their client. They will empathise with their situation and listen effectively without judgement.

A psychotherapist is someone who has done extensive study of developmental theory to understand how a person has grown to think, feel, and behave in their life. A psychotherapist will ascertain how a person’s current day issues may stem from earlier challenges in life. They can help the client revisit those earlier challenges and process them in a healing way.

An accredited psychotherapist is required to continue upskilling and training in the most current theories and practices. They must also abide by the IACP (Irish Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists) code of ethics. This code ensures the safety of a therapist’s clients and attend regular supervision, so their work is monitored for effective and safe practice.

I am an accredited member of the Irish Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists and the Irish Association of Creative Arts Therapists. I offer a range of psychotherapy and counselling services, including couples therapy and adolescent therapy.
