If your child is experiencing mental health issues, you will need a therapist with special training in the area of adolescent psychotherapy.
The demand for adolescent psychotherapy has never been higher. Young people today are facing more complex challenges than ever. From social pressure to academic stress, sexuality and identity issues, and the lasting impact of lockdown, it is little wonder that anxiety and depression are more prevalent than ever for our teenagers.
I have a unique understanding of young people, with over fifteen years’ experience working therapeutically in secondary education. I have developed a reputation of working extremely well with this age group: I am familiar with their way of life and the common issues that surface at that age.
Evidence has shown, in my practice, that therapeutic intervention at the adolescent stage of life is extremely effective. Not only is it curative of the issues the young person is experiencing at the time but the skills they learn in therapy will lead to preventative measures of experiencing the same issues later in adulthood.
With my approach, I equip my young clients with many practical skills they can apply in their day-to-day lives to help them manage their anxiety. I believe it is not enough to just help with the presenting issues but to set them up with methods for coping, so they feel empowered and capable to manage the stresses of life by themselves.
